The first phase of the castle is due to open late spring/summer which will be an exciting time. Our Director of Agronomy Steve Chappell, and our Golf Course Superintendent David Hay are recruiting a new agronomy team for our newly renovated golf course here in Perthshire due to open 2025.

As Irrigation Technician you will play a crucial role in maintaining the irrigation systems that keep our golf course lush, green, and beautifully manicured. Your expertise in irrigation technology and systems management will ensure that our course maintains optimal playing conditions while conserving water and resources.

There will never be a shortage of tasks in this stunning location, so you must have the desire to support your team in this friendly and stimulating environment by working with others to achieve the overall business objectives.

Working closely and proactively communicating with team members across the wide range of facilities, this is a unique role for those who thrive on people interaction.

Part of our major course renovation includes the installation of an Adrian Mortram designed RainBird IC Irrigation system. We are looking for an experienced irrigation technician to oversee installation alongside Ocmis Irrigation. Working closely with the senior agronomy team in taking responsibility for the ongoing maintenance and operation to ensure the course is fully open in 2025.

You conduct routine inspections and maintenance of the golf course irrigation system, including sprinklers, valves, pipes, and control systems. Identifying and repairing any leaks, clogs to ensure the irrigation and drainage system is fully functioning. Adjusting sprinkler heads, nozzles, and water pressure to optimise the water distribution and the coverage across the golf course.

Preparing the machines for use and diagnosing and troubleshooting any electrical or mechanical problems with the components of the irrigation system. Conducting system tests and checks to verify proper operation and performance. Maintaining the irrigation equipment and tools, regularly checking to ensure they are in good working order and ensuring reliability.

Monitoring water usage and irrigation schedules ensuring efficiency of water resources and minimising water waste. Adjusting the irrigation schedules based on weather conditions, seasonal changes and turfgrass requirements.

Keeping detailed records of maintenance activities and repairs. Manage the control of weeds, pests, and disease. Communicate and update managers, staff on the irrigation and drainage system status and any maintenance needs that may occur.

You can maintain a professional and welcoming approach when engaging with members, guests & visitors. As and when required carry out remedial and preventative work around the site to support other areas of the business. A full UK Driving License is essential, and the following qualifications would be a distinct advantage.

  • Proficient in Information Communication Technology
  • NVQ level 3 or equivalent in Greenkeeping and Sports Turf Management, PA1, PA2 and PA6A spraying certificates.
  • Certified to operate Chainsaws.
